The brief

Sam Millward is an ACCA-qualified accountant with more than ten years in finance, newly independent with Ascenso. His website was a one-line holding page. In his own words, he had no idea what he wanted it to look like, only that it shouldn’t feel corporate and should feel warm.

His difference is the advice. Most accountants tell you what happened; Sam helps you work out what to do next. The site had to make that obvious in seconds.

The approach

I took the time to learn how he actually works with his clients, then built everything from that. The palette comes from his logo, blue and orange, softened into warm bone and clay so it never feels like a bank. His own words lead the homepage, and his portrait, intro video and press sit where people look for proof.

His way of working became the structure: a quality-of-life score that climbs from five to six, and a year of support drawn as a rising line, quarter by quarter.

The craft, in detail

  • 01Matched to his logo. Blue and clay taken from his mark and tuned warm, so the brand feels like him rather than a firm.
  • 02Proof where it counts. His portrait, intro video and Telegraph press placed exactly where visitors look for a reason to trust him.
  • 03Built for enquiries. One clear route to get in touch and no phone number, because Sam works by written enquiry rather than calls.
  • 04Services as an argument. A services page that explains where the value is, answers the questions people ask, and is honest that there is no price list.
  • 05Readable by Google. Structured data for his services, FAQs and profile, so search engines understand who he is and what he does.

“So, I had no idea what I actually wanted my website to look like so didn’t give clear direction other than I didn’t want it to be corporate and wanted a warm feeling to it. You took the time to understand how I service clients and learn what’s important to me and then I left you to it, what you created is genuinely so so good. I genuinely get regular website enquiries now.

Thank you!”
